Hi,
I have a 10 year old male leopard gecko who has had some kind of infection or swelling at the base of his tail (just after the vent) for three weeks. I have been to the vet 3 times and i am going again soon. He has treated it as an infection and some swelling did go down but there is still a small lump that is not going away. He is no longer eating i have been trying to hand feed him over last two weeks i have also been giving him water and bathing him. The vet said it is not looking good and he cant do anything other than give vitamin injections and anitbiotics. The next step is him being put to sleep or going to a specialist but i dont think we can afford that aswell as the age of the lizard i dont know if he make it.
This problem is very similar to another thread posted i have tried to get the lump out as he did but it wont :( If you have time to reply could you tell me what you think the problem may be and what i should do.
Thankyou
Hayley

Thanks for replying joanna, i have read that thread. they managed to get the lump out and i have tried several times to do the same. Im taking leo to the vets tomorrow and i am going to get a specialist number so i can enquire about prices and maybe advice. I managed to give him a waxworm yesterday (although i have to be forceful) and hes drinking water i give him. He also has been on anitbiotics for last 3 weeks. His tail is still fat dispite him not eating so if i manage to get the lump removed i think he'l have a good chance of recovery. Il let you guys know how i get on as i would want others with this problem to know what to do. If anyone has any advice im checking everyday this site is really good x

this happened to a freind of mine what happened was his poo was'nt coming out where it should be. he took it to the vet. but here in N.H. we don't have any good herp. vet's in the area, but what we did is soaked him in warm water for like 30 min to loosen it up and GENTLY push it out (don't try if you have shaky hand's) but after doing that 3 times a week for 2 weeks we got it all out and now less than a year later he's fatherd 6 wee little one keep us poasted
