Infertile eggs

Hi guys!

I was wondering how often females lay infertile eggs. All of the information online that I've looked at has been about fertile eggs. I'm also wondering what to feed hatchling leopard geckos. And if I keep them in a shoe box or tub, should I have an overhead heater?

Thanks!

Laying infertile eggs can vary depending on female. If a female is very young or on older side then they may lay more infertile eggs. Unpaired females can lay infertile eggs too but it isn't often. I feed my hatchling small mealworms and small dubia. I despise crickets myself but small crickets would be fine too. It is of my opinion that leopard geckos need under belly heat and that this is best for them. I keep mine babies in tubs in a rack system with under belly heat tape set to 90F.

Thank you! My female has bred with a male but I think I'm going to separate them to put less stress on her body in following seasons. I personally use heat mats too, but I was worried about it melting the plastic. Does it do that?

If you use a thermostat the heat mat will not melt the plastic. Racks are usually heated with heat mats and those tubs are plastic.
