Infertile Vs. Fertile

I probably won't be breeding for another couple years, at best, but the more information I can stock up on before hand the better off I think I will be.

I have been curious lately as to wether or not you can easily tell the difference between a fertile egg and an inferile one, are there some tricks to find out, a visual check, or do you simply incubate all of em?

Thanks, Tyler

The infertile eggs are either very thin and shriveled, or very soft like water balloons. Frequently (though not always), if you candle a fertile egg, you will see a red bull's eye shape on one side. That said, it's best to incubate just in case. If they're not fertile, they'll shrivel and mold.

Quick question, how long will it take for an infertile egg to shrivel and mold?

Once you see the difference between infertile and fertile when you are actually breeding, it gets very easy to tell.

I have had some eggs look fine for weeks and weeks before shriveling and molding. In some cases there was a dead embryo inside, in other cases there was nothing.

In that case you would remove the shriveled/molded egg? Or do you want to keep the incubator closed as much as possible??
