injured leo

Hi So I was at the pet shop today and noticed one of the Leo's had a significant part of his tail missing and I know they don't drop their tails like other geckos so I'm thinking maybe they dropped on ornament in him...?

So my question is how long will it take for it too heal and how common is this?
It appears to be healing up.

I was contemplating getting him but wasn't sure as to his medical care and future as to housing and what not.

I had Leo's several years ago but with my lovely memory I need to do my research again into finer details.

It looks like the tail just dropped. Either something got dropped on it or it got bitten. It's on the larger side for a pet store gecko so you may want to ask if someone recently surrendered the gecko to the pet shop. The tail is fine and may or may not grow back looking nice.

Yea the one you can kind of see next to it is the same size and then that other one I posted and 3 others were all housed together and one of the small ones had a regenerated tail. They usually house the surrenders separately and at a discounted price.

Leos CAN drop their tails. It takes a great amount of stress, though. Some can even drop their tails during shipping. The only difference is that leopard geckos CAN grow their tails back, unlike other geckos - like say a crested gecko.

The same thing happened to my jezabel it grew back in a week or two and I'm pretty sure they drop their tail at the base

my peanut did the same thing. grew back nicely in a few weeks, was amazing to watch. i also prefer the look of half grow back tails, they look less bulbous then full regens
