Put the tile down without grout. You don't even really have to worry about the cracks. To spot clean you can just wipe off the tile while it's in place. To do a more thorough cleaning, remove the tile, clean the tank floor underneath, clean the tile and replace.

Thats what i do as well, i just wipe them off when they need it and later i will lift the whole tile out to clean under it and wash it off really good. I just think its easier that way and i doubt it matters to the gecko.

No grout needed, I have 18" Exoterra's and both are setup the same way, each gecko uses the fwd left corner of the tank to leave their waste. I have a 4"x6"' tile in that corner with a piece of tape that sticks up about a 1/4". I just lift it out and clean it everyday.

I don't use grout as well. If you're worried about your gecko's fingers getting caught in the cracks, just make the gap wider. I left a 1/2 inch gap between the sides of the tank with the edge of the tile, and then rolled some paper towel to fill in the gap.
