Yes. Ideally you should get a thermometer with a probe that can be placed directly on the floor of the tank above the UTH.

my u.t.h has to go on the side of the tank instead of under (nvm im proboly going to raise the tank to fit a u.t.h under it

Most UTHs come with little "feet" to place on the corners of the tank to slightly raise it. If yours didn't, you can usually find something at Home Depot or Lowe's.

my blue light (lower wattage which I like) makes it almost harder to see and turns my fake plants from green to red (go figure XD) The red light is amazing for viewing and Rin doesn't seem to be bothered by it but mine is a higher wattage and since I don't like having the tank hotter at night I only leave it on for a little bit.

My tank is in my room but its on the side wall so it gets sunlight but not directly. When airing out my room (Can't leave door open or else the cat comes to "visit") I do turn on a regular old lightbulb, Rin stays inside her hide anyways during the day, but I try to use it sparingly and only when I need to up the temps a little bit.

Blue light always makes me think of the Zoo Med Daylight Blue Bulbs - to be used in the day. When everyone says blue light to be used at night, do they mean "moonlight" bulbs? They create kind of a bluish glow.

I'd go with a red bulb, but it's your gecko and your choice :)

Yah the moonlight bulb (thats the one I have anyways) bluish glow...very apt description, doesn't make it any easier for me to see and I'm sure Rin doesn't feel any affection for it. In short? Waste of money.

I don't do nighttime temperature drops, I just let the temperature remain at about 90 degrees at all times, unless its pretty hot outside. But if you are into doing a temp drop at night, I would suggest mid 80's (82-85). You really just have to make sure that the temperatures, regardless of the time of day, doesn't get too hot or too cold.

How about leaving the UTH and bulb on during the day and only leaving the UTH on at night? That is, if you need two heat sources to get the proper temperature.
