Gotcha, you guys are using jargon like 'Patty' that I have no idea about!!!!
LOL,
Anyhow, I will try and get a pic of it,
what exactly defines an eclipse.
Thanks!
Solid coloration of the eye. Black in non-albino animals and ruby in albino ones. It can be expressed in a wide variety of amounts of "fill" and there are certain morphs and situations (Super Snows and Blizzards) that can look like the eclipse gene at work, but are not.
In your case, this translates into a few possibilities, depending upon your albino strain (someone asserted LV/RW, but I don't know either way).
If that is a Tremper Patternless Albino and that ends up also being eclipse, then you effectively have what is known as an Ember, which is a valuable morph.
If it is a Las Vegas/Rainwater Patternless Albino and that ends up also being eclipse, then you have the LV/RW equivalent of an Ember, and that's something I have yet to see produced. It would also be valuable. Quite possibly more valuable than an Ember and could be used to establish your own line (I know you said it is for your child, but that doesn't mean you cannot use him/her/it to pass on the trait) of an expensive morph.
Also, it could be a new trait that behaves like eclipse. If reproducible, this would be new to the leopard gecko world. It's more likely that it is eclipse than a new trait, but you never know until it is test bred.
Finally, it could just be a developmental aberration that is unable to be inherited by its offspring, in which case it would be just an unusual Patternless Albino of whatever albino strain it happens to be (I know Bell and Tremper, but I don't deal with LV/RW and so would not be qualified to make the judgment call).
Whatever it is, I would, if I were you, raise it up into a healthy adult and try to see if the trait is reproducible. I always keep an eye out for interesting new potential traits or potential morphs among otherwise typical groups of animals.
Anyway, that's what I meant about hitting the jackpot. I hope that he ends up being something extra special for you.
