Hello,

I am Thunderslide. I live near Madison Wisconsin.

We bought a leo from Paul Sage. If you have not had dealings with Paul. I would again without thought, hesitation or reservation.

we have the tank all set up with a daynight cycle on a timer, UTH and carpet. there is a couple pictures (one is fuzzy) in the housing section.

What I am next interested in is a reccommended process for handeling the feller. how to do it when to start, how long to try... I have reached into the tank towards him and he hissed and arched his back. I think he was upset.:main_laugh: I know I want him to come out and watch desparate housewives and grays anatomy with us.

So what is the best way to start the process.. only had him since thursday night. I do put my hand near him and he sometimes takes a sniff. Not expecting him to leap into my hand but I don't want to scare his tail off either.

Welcome :), well defently give any new gecko atleast a week to settle in before feeding/handling. After that, you can simply start by placing your hand in the cage and do that for awhile intill the gecko gets use to your hand in the cage. The next step would be to gently coax the leo into your hand, lay your hand flat on the ground and coax the leo into it, do not grab at it or grab it by the tail. Once in your hand, just let it walk around, I would start by holding it over the tank, so if it jumps, it will fall in the cage and shouldnt be to high that it would hurt itself. Its normal for a baby to be jumpy, nervous, and sometimes nippy, but most calm down with gentle handling and age. Good luck :)

been feeding him daily (adding worms, changing, moistening moss etc)

I do put my hand palm up on the floor of the cage. he does seem curious. I try to disturb him as little as possible but need to keep care of the cage.:main_thumbsup:

Hi Richard! Welcome to GeckoForums.net!

thanks for fixing my posting error. I swear it was a freak thing. I still do not know how it happened.

The only advice I can give you with your leo is keep trying, but don't force him along. He'll cooperate when he's ready. Welcome to GeckoForums.net, Richard! :D
