Is flash photography harmful to Leo eyes?

There's an article regarding UVB lights and photo-kerato-conjunctivitis due to exposure to the brightness and low wave length UVB and UVC. I just wonder if photographing Leos would have any ill effects.

Here's the link to the article:

I don't really know if it harms their eyes, but I never use flash anyway. You get a better picture with more accurate color & depth field by not using flash. Also, since they are nocturnal animals I would assume bright, flashing light would bother them. Just my opinion though.

I assure you that an owls eyes are more light sensitive at night than any leo's eyes and with that said....

Cornell did a study years ago and came to the conclusion that flash is no more harmful to owls than it is to humans....

Yea, ive been wondering about this for a while. I want to get a good picture, but my leo is always out when its dark, and the cieling light doesnt light the room all to well, so im left with flash. But, when I took pictures of him 2 nights ago, it didnt even bug him. He just sat there, so i dont think it does, and i guess since it isnt more harmful to owls than humans, i guess its alright.

I use flash on camera as usually my lighting is crappy. I keep it to a minimum though, a few quick snaps and leave em alone.

Sometimes they ignore it as if it didnt happen, sometimes they freak. One time Yoshi sat perfectly still while i took 2-3 pictures...as soon as i started to move away he put his tail in the air and ran like hell under his hide so *shrugs* hehe

It may not be harmful, but I'm sure they don't like it. At least I know mine don't. With how cheaply a light box can be built, there really shouldn't be any reason to use a flash. If that is still too much, you can always take them outside, or to a south facing window for better light.
