is free cockroaches a good alternative?

Hey Forum,

I recently came into the situation of maybe being able to aquire Hissing Cockroaches for free. However, I know there is some dissent about using these as feeders for geckos.

They will be fine as long as they are the right size though, right? Are they that much different than dubai roaches?

Hissers are fine. I think they breed slower, but you can still use them.

Hissers are shell and fat a lot of it also they can get too big for geckos. If you dont have things that will eat them, you eventually end up with too many adult breeders. Also free roaches means nothing when they arent ideal for you and in the long run will cost you more to maintain with less results than dubia or lateralis
