It's not a good idea to breed animals with a trait that could be passed along genetically because we don't want even more geckos with the same problem. It's not clear whether tail kinks are genetic or not, but most people don't breed them just to be sure. It's not forbidden, but you should take the future geckos into account and think carefully before you make your decision.

its also said that its really hard telling if a tail kink is led up to something more serious... something wrong internally... there are lots of possibilitys... so its just avoided for the most part...

I have heard from other breeders as well as read that the tail kink is associated to a Dom trait and for the most part is pasted along. I don't know from personal experience but i look at it from a logical stand point. If there is a possiblity for any defects then it is best to not attempt due to future animals being involved.

I am just curious, I have a male that was not born with a tail kink but during the summer his temps were very high and he stopped eating for a few weeks and over that period of time he developed a tail kink.. This cant be genetic because he was not born with it?? Or can it be??

I know in ball pythons, body kinking, cleft pallates, and a couple odd occurances (some albino's being born with no eyes) have happened. They're thought of as genetic, and the lines are bred out instead of crossed again. This happened with NERD's caramel glow line I think... (motor skills and wouldn't eat without force feeding). Super cinnamons and black pastels also had harelip problems. That trait has pretty much been eliminated now. Ralph Davis had an albino this year born with no eyes.

It's common practice to refrain from breeding those types of traits.
