All,

Great forum. I just read the sticky regarding a non eating leo which was helpful!

My situation is that I have adopted my girlfriends leo whom is about 4 years old. Around this time last year the leo had a bout of not eating which worried us, but she didn't seem to lose any weight and eventually started eating again.

Two weeks ago this started again. I'd point out it seems to be accompanied by more "aware" behavior. The leo seems more active, walking around more, etc.

Her diet consists primarily of medium super worms. She was eating very well and we ran out of super worms and got her some meals, which she wouldn't touch (picky eater?), eventually we got some more supers and now she won't touch those :(

Leo is a female, is this normal?

Thanks for your help in advance!

It's fairly common for some females to go off food for a period during breeding season, even if they have never seen a male. They all ovulate, and some lay infertile eggs or absorb them. Since she's done this before, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Welcome to the forum :)

Thanks much,

Yea unless she starts acting lethargic I am not going to worry. She does notice the worms and goes up to them and licks but then gives me a look of "seriously, these again.. give me some waxies".. but I'm trying not to spoil her.

They are hard to get back on regular food once you treat them to a few waxies!

+1 to Laney!

Best thing you can spend money on is a simple gram scale. This way you can keep track of weights during the times you Leo's go off food. Best 10 bucks Ive spent!

I have one leo (male) that doesn't eat for about 6 months! He's been doing this for the past 3 years now. In May, when he started eating again he was down to 60 grams and now he's back up to 75. He'll probably hit 80 grams before he stops eating again in late fall.
