Is it normal for superworms to stink really bad? I have my mealworm and superworm bin in my room and they've stunk up my whole room! i have to keep the doors open to let the smell out. But the problem just starts there, if i keep the door open, they stink the whole hallway!

mealworm, superworm and dubia bin ALL in my room lol.

They start to smell like really strong ammonia if you dont change the bedding.
A container fell behind a shelf of mine and was horrible.

The superworms have only been in the container for a week. I would think that i can leave them in there for at least two weeks. I got em on the 13th and i place at least 3-5 carrots in there..

Hmm.. that means i would spend a lot of money for the substrate..

the smell is nasty, i have glade on 24/7 and the smell don't mix. smells like gas haha.

Not sure if it matters, but i use chicken mash for their bedding.

The worms stinking is strange to me.. My mealworms and superworms have never smelled bad unless their bedding was really old. They usually just smell like wheat bran (the bedding) Are you picking out dead worms as you see them? If not that could lead to the stink. Are their containers well ventilated? Does your room have good air circulation? Sometimes it gets a little sketch smelling in my room too but opening a window and turning on some fans fixes it right up.

i would think its ventilated.. its a 3 drawer bin and i pull it out a little bit so its ventilated. i pick out the dead ones and all the sheds. i use chicken laying mash. AND i have a che on top of the bin hanging from a 10 gal tank. my door is usually open but mom has gotten mad because the whole house stinks.

Is there moisture in the bedding? Sometimes this happens from carrots and other veggies.

no usually when i put the carrots in (after soaking in water for a few minutes), i wrap them around a paper towel or towel so there is no moisture or i try to minimize the moisture.

i put them in a new bedding and the smell is somewhat gone..

I recently got an order of 500 supers and when I took them out of the box, i noticed a slight stench. Now that I've got them on clean bedding, they don't smell at all. If anything I'll probably see in a few weeks, they might start smelling then but by then it would warrant a bedding change.

let me know after a week if it starts smelling or if its really bad before the week ends.

and now something weird happened... I checked how my supers were doing and first thing i see are dead supers. I counted to see how many died, but after passing 50, i stopped. There are more i'm guessing i have maybe close to 100 or more that died.
