Is my leo slow, or is this normal?

I have a female Leo, about 11 months old. She loves mealworms, waxworms, and crickets. The thing is, she can never seem to find them. She will see a cricket, but she was still at it for so long that it runs away. The food bowl I put the worms in is tall (1.5in tall) in order to keep the worms from escaping, but she seems to be too slow to figure out that food is in the bowl. My other Leos have no problem with the bowls. Any tips on what I can do to help her be a more successful hunter? Thanks!

looks to be a tremper albino..what is your current setup as far as floor temps, heating method, type of food, supplementation, substrate, hides, and how many geckos are housed together. Do you have a current pic of her?

My gecko that looks like yours is slow too. she will chase the cricket and when it stops moving she stops and will wait forever, then the cricket runs away. Its almost like she has trouble seeing the food. My other gecko has no problems but he is a different morph. Does your gecko have grey eyes with red veins?

The bedding is reptile carpet. She has two hides, multiple things to climb on. She gets a calcium supplement. the temp is 80 on the cool side, 90-95 on the warm. She lives alone.

meg-my gecko does the exact same thing! And she has grey eyes, but no red

For geckos that have trouble feeding on crickets/roaches that run, pull their hind legs off so they still move, but move slower. You can pull more legs off if your gecko requires more help.

As for mealworm dishes, look into something like this:

http://www.tsksupply.com/small-worm-dish-50-count/

It'll work much better as it's low, and they can see inside it. But it's designed so mealworms can't get out.

Shut off your lights when feeding. My albinos cant see that well with the lights on, so their aim is off.

My bell albino has trouble seeing her bugs sometimes. I feed her in a bowl, and she knows to go there for food. If yours won't eat from the bowl, try hand feeding. This worked for Freddie before she found her food bowl.

Definitely turn the lights off. If you use heat lights, they're too bright for a regular leo to see... So it'd be hard especially for an albino to see with bright lights.
