So i have this baby female tremper albino leo, i got her at a show in late July...probly no more than a month old at the time, just a little thing. Well, now it's November and she weighs 19.3 grams. Is that too skinny? She eats, just isn't much of a pig or anything. She seems normal otherwise, not lethargic or anything like that....actually rather feisty lol. Am i being paranoid? She's been eating a diet of mealworms and waxworms as treats with the occasional cricket if he'll take it.

thanks for any help

A picture would help much. It's hard to tell from a description because a lot of geckos are built differently.

I'll do my best, the only pics i have of her are when i got her but i'll see what i can do. She hasn't really grown all that much, a little bit bigger and is starting to show more colors but not a huge change it seems like.

Here are some pics of her, i've noticed her eating a lot more as of late and i think she's putting on a bit of weight (seems to rly like superworms) but just in case.

I'm no gecko expert, but she doesn't look skinny to me. Maybe someone with more experience can offer some advice.

She's pretty!

she looks healthy to me!! her fattening up wouldn't be a bad thing...but I don't think she's hurting from not being bigger....she's pretty!

I donno

I just asked a question on another post as to how much a Leopard Gecko should weigh from birth up to 24 months.

I have a Leo who was hatched in July that a week ago weighed about 45 grams.

I have feed her crickets 6 to 8 a day, left her mealworms about 10 or so a day and sometimes she eats them all.

I have fed her some Hornworms, and a couple of times I have fed her some waxworms.

The other day I fed her about 5 Superworms.

Because she is still a JV I still try to feed her 6 to 8 crickets and provide her some mealworms every day.

But, I think that you should feed her more. I read on one of the posts that at about 40 grams they start to eat less.

Thanks for the help ya'll. Yeah, she just seems skinner compared to others i've seen & Romper (my male APTOR) who is around the same age. The good thing is she's definitely picked up on eating lately, I started trying out superworms last week with her & she definitely approves.

I broke out the scale again to see if she had gained weight and i was pleasantly surprised, also decided to weigh everyone for fun.

Lucy-Tremper Albino
11/19/08-19.3 grams
12/2/08-27.5 grams
Weight gain-8.2 grams

Romper-APTOR het RAPTOR
11/19/08-22.1 grams
12/2/08-30 grams
Weight gain-7.9 grams

Hi-Yellow Adult Female-
11/19/08-58.7 grams
12/2/08-64.4 grams
Weight Gain-5.7

SHTCTB het Bell Albino Adult Female-
11/19/08-51.3 grams
12/2/08-58.9 grams
Weight Gain-7.6 grams

SHTCTB Adult Female (aka Miss Piggy lol)-
11/19/08-59.2 grams
12/2/08-64.4 grams
Weight Gain-5.2 grams

SHTCB Adult Female
11/19/08-51.2 grams
12/2/08-51.8 grams
Weight Gain-0.6 grams

Overall a lot of good weight gaining it seems, though the last SHTCTB barely gained any. She just shed a couple days ago so maybe that has something to do with it, i'm keeping an eye on her making sure she's not being bullied out of food.

Weight and Sizes

I went and looked on the internet and I discovered that:

1) Leopard Geckos weight will depend on the individual Leo.

2) I saw sites that listed the ages of various Leos that had different weights for different hatch dates and they were all different.

3) On Julie's website ... GeckoRanch.com she gives a range for adult length and weights.

4) I still have not seen a breakdown of weight averages for Leos at different ages though.:D
