sorry if this has been discussed, i tried to find a thread on this first...

I'm wondering if the amount of snake eyes in a gecko carrying the eclipse genes can be passed on, or if the trait shows up randomly...

in other words, do you need both parents to have snake eyes to get babies that have snake eyes....(or two parents that have solid black eyes to get babies that have solid black eyes)?

thanks in advance for your time-
D

btw, the reason I ask is I have a female eclipse with slight snake eyes, and a male het eclipse stripe. I'd like to get another eclipse , male, but wondering if i need to get one with great snake eyes to get those snake eyes in the babies?

As far as I understand it's completely random. You can get Eclipse offspring from Snake Eye crosses and Snake Eye offspring from Eclipse crosses. On the contrary, most Eclipse x Eclipse produce 100% Eclipse offspring from what I've heard. So I'd assume Snake Eye x Snake Eye would produce 100% Snake Eye offspring.

Michael's right, the snake eye trait is very random. However, Snake Eye x Snake Eye is likely to produce solid eclipse eyed offspring.
