Well, maybe not entirely. :) I went back to __co today to pick up some Ca2+, and (of course) moseyed over to see if the crestie was still there - he was. So I was getting ready to leave, when this stereotypical HORRIBLE family steps in front of me. The kids are screaming into the gecko cage, the mom looks like a druggie, both parents are screaming back at the kids... you get the picture. I'm pretty patient about that type of thing, but I could hardly stand to be around them. I was about to run in the other direction when I realized that they were discussing whether they should get a gecko for their son's birthday - at which point, I beckoned an employee and packaged "my" crestie up. ;)

I took him home only to find out that my boyfriend Ben had been planning to buy him for me after class today, (hahaha!)... so Ben bought him back from me, and then gave him to me for Valentine's day. :D

Soooo.... meet Nemo! (if you've seen the movie, you'll understand the name) Please comment on his setup or anything else you can think of. The log is hollowed out, so he can hide on the other side of it... he's on paper towels... temp about 75F... shallow water dish... he has crickets right now and I'm getting CGD Thursday (the store gets their shipment then, they were out today. Is there a good brand to buy?). Do they need other supplements besides Ca2+ and weekly Reptivite?

This is my first crestie, so any tips are welcomed! :main_thumbsup:

You might want to add more vines around the top of the aquarium. Cresties like height more than they do length. Otherwise it's ok. Nice Crestie.:D

He's awesome! Look through pics of people's set ups on here and you'll find a lot of great ideas. You may consider turning the tank on it's side so it's tall, they're arboreal they use the vertical space. The petstore CDG is T-Rex CGD, it's the exact same thing as Repashy CGD just packaged in small bottles for commercial sale. You might think about buying it online since the little bottles go pretty quick. Here's a link for products: http://www.pangeareptile.com/products.htm

hey! He is so awesome! I love the 'greenish' hue to his sides! I just recently got my first crested gecko too... so I completely understand how excited you are! I would also recomend giving him a little more vertical space, and make sure he is getting enough moisture... I mist my guys tank twice a day. :) It is realllllly dry out here...

anyway, I hope you enjoy him! he is precious!

Other than the suggestions so far, just dust his crickets and you'll be all set. I feed about five crickets twice a week to my cresteds of equal size.

Aren't you glad you listened and went back to get him? :main_laugh: He's very nice, considering he came from ___co! :main_thumbsup:

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! Yes, I am glad I went back for him, lol... I shudder to think of what that family would have done to him. :(

I didn't buy a new vertical tank because I already had this horizontal ten-gallon. The lid doesn't attach firmly to the tank, so what I'm thinking of doing right now is tilting the tank on end like you said, and bungee-cording the lid to it. :) There's some southern engineering for you - we'll see if it works. I'll also probably add some more vines. I'll post pics!

What color morph would you say he is? Dalmation/??

I'd totally bungee cord it! I'm a firm believer in making what you have work if possible. Just put one bungee toward the top and one toward the bottom and see if it works. I'd call him an Olive Harley with Dalmation spots.

Well, I fixed some things based on ya'lls recommendations. I'm going to add some live plants in once they root up (I took clippings off of an existing plant). Nemo seems to be doing very well and apparantly loves his new digs!

I think I saw him fired up today - he has a lot more dalmation spots than I previously suspected. He's probably not going to change colors much more though, right? Since he is showing his maleness very prominantly, I'm guessing he's at least 7-8 months old from what I've read. Truth or fiction?

he is an olive flame/dalmation she isnt a harley because she lacks the patterning on the appendages to be a harley

this is my female, and she is a flame

and she has alot more side patterning... but lacks the leg patterning

and i would say it is a safe bet to say he is at least 7-8 months old, possibly older
