It's hatching...but...something isn't quite right :S

It's only been about 43 days since I put it in the inc at around 86. That's a little premature isn't it? I just noticed the little guy had got his head out of his egg. He's still alive and breathing, and I assume he'll get the rest of the way out overnight.

Anyone have any recommendations or information here? None of my books really cover hatchlings that hatch significantly before 65 days of incubation. I'm not sure if there are complications I need to worry about here, if I should help him out of the egg, leave him alone for a couple days, or what.

Thanks for your help.

I don't incubate at such a high temp (I'm 80-82) but mine hatch out between 54 and 60 days for the most part, so I think 43 days at that temp might be in the ballpark. Hopefully someone else will respond.

at 88 average is about 45 days, Im not sure how youare measuring your temps (murcery themometer, temp gun, digital themometer etc.) but that is normal for 88-90. You say yours it at 86 so Id check that first and see if your temps are right spot on.

For 65 days you are looking at lower temps of 80.

I don;t think it will take much more time for him to come out, Ive seen many a leo baby head sticking out and a few hours to the next am they are out and running around.

Thanks guys. You were right, he's perfectly fine. No prolapses, malformed limbs, nothing out of the ordinary. He came right out, bright eyed, looking so adorable and cute. I'm probably going to get a digital camera today to take pictures! He's adorable :). Just going to wait a couple days before offering him food, of course, since that's what the book says.
I was just a little worried, but I guess I was just being paranoid.

Yay! I have a baby leo!
