Good thing to ask. Supplementation is very important since we are not mother nature! ;) I know that is disappointing :D , however, there are some good products you can use! I keep my 300+ geckos and about 50 species on Calcium Plus by Allen Repashy, an all in one supplement that was revised last year to be, in my opinion, the best available for geckos. I work with geckos much more difficult to supplement than leopards, Phelsuma or Day Geckos. This year's hatchlings (about three dozen, five different species so far) are completely free of any MBD effects, which is a first in the 15 years I have been breeding them. So far their heavily calcified eggs are looking great too! I also work with leopards (120+ breeders) and in a late season this year I have about 25-30 hatchlings which are also free of MBD. I have 23 years of experience working with leopard geckos.

I have seen a lot of interesting things happen with supplements and have been a beta-tester for all the good ones. The two that always land on top are RepCal with D3, mixed with 50/50 Herptivite (for leos), for Phelsuma 2:1 RepCal with D3 to Herptivite, and Calcium Plus. Calcium Plus is also marketed as T-Rex Leopard Gecko supplement but you never know which version you are getting if you buy the T-Rex pet store product. Older versions are not so good, and you want it fresh, so look for Calcium Plus from authorized Repashy dealers who are all breeders like myself, all giving Allen input constantly. Calcium Plus has probiotics and color enhancers in addition to attaining the optimal Calcium/phosphorus/D3/vitamin ratios taking into account what levels insects already have.

Finally, Eublepharine geckos like the ones most folks work with here, Leopards and Coleonyx banded geckos, are especially attracted to scent according to research done with different genera of geckos (I have copies of some of these papers if anyone is interested). There is something in Calcium Plus they really like, which makes introducing new food items easier since the scent they are used to is already there. A lot of us have been doing that lately with the mealworm shortage! Calcium Plus does a great job of sticking to the food items, and no other mixing or Calcium supplementation is necessary. Sound like the Bass-o-matic, too simple? ;) It is.

You are welcome! What good would I be if I did not share what works!

I use the Jurrasi-Cal stuff and it works pretty good for me, (not saying anything about Gecko Ranch's calci-powder).
