Remember when I posted about one of my males (Slinky) eating the sphagnum moss bedding in his moist hide, and remember how he "passed" big balls of the stuff, then do you remember I said I had to pull some long strings of it out of his butt because he couldn't eliminate it himself and he was walking around with a 2'' string coming out of him?
Well, I was just thinking about how we all fuss over our leos; no loose substrate, no this, no that, etc.!
I am really amazed he was able to pass that stuff through his little gut with no ill effect at all!
I have heard of eating food with lots of "fiber" to keep the train moving, and have a good "cleaning out", but this is ridiculous!!
I would say, the total amount of moss he passed was about 5''!!
After I pulled the last string out of him, he pooped normal right away.
At no time did he seem in any discomfort except at first when he passed the largest ball of string. He didn't even mind me pulling it out of his butt, in fact, he kept bitting at it, like it was a bug!! :main_rolleyes:
Anyway, the point of this, rather graphic, story is, leos are allot more rugged and tough than we give them credit for! :main_yes:
