Just a quick question.. Buyer beware??

I found an ad today that said leopard geckos for re-homing. I contacted the person and I asked what they were asking for the females. They said make an offer. I offered $50 per female. There is 4 females, pictured below. They said yes, and wanted me to meet right now. Im at work posing this.. lol! So I work all week and cannot get them til saturday or sunday of next week. They said that they wont be around then, but can have them shipped. Also they said they need full payment to hold them til friday when they can ship to me. They said it will be $180 plus shipping to make the total $220. They said they are a trusted breeder.

Not to be rude, but should I be skeptical? Should I not pass them up?

I would say run. That just screams scam to me. Anyone can claim to be a trusted breeder.

Ask for references or for a BoI name, webpage, facebook paage, etc. If they are a trusted breeder they'll have at least one of those things. The leos don't look bad and are probably what they're being called but I also think the transaction details scream fishy scam to me. I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. If the leos start to have issues I would, at the very least, want to be able to contact the breeder again and talk to them.

Full payment till friday when they can ship? Anyone shipping leos knows not to ship on friday........

Shipping over the weekend is asking for trouble, even IF you mean well. I'd steer clear...

I agree with those stating that they shouldn't ship on Friday. If anything were to go wrong, and they don't arrive Saturday, then you would have to wait until Monday. Also, why ship when you should just be able to meet after work, right?

Honestly, if I were in your situation, I would just move on and get my geckos elsewhere.

most "reputable" breeders wont even ship thursday.... I ship Monday , Tuesday, Wednesday ... I personally don't know the breeder you're talking about so I can't say good or bad things, but these are things I would look at with caution when buying a Leopard gecko...Theres to many other great breeders to select from with fantastic geckos and great reputations around to risk this in my opinion.

I would say that you can pick up saturday and if theyre gone theyre gone. It doesnt sound so much like a scam
Than it does someone whos afraid you may back out of the sale.

I agree with Katie. I say if they're there when you can get them, then it's a win/win. If not, oh well.
