Last month I rescued a pair of normal AFT. Well, today when I was cleaning cages I found a huge egg in the humid hide. I've candled it and it is fertile. I don't have anything ready, wasn't expexting to get eggs. The lady I'd rescued them from had had them together since the summer. I guess I got the magic charm . I've put the egg in a container of moist perlite and put it in an empty drawer of my rack, the ambient temp in there is mid 80's. Ive got a temp and humidity guage in the container, too. Need tips, to try and inclubate this little suprise. (oh I successfuly bred cresties this year, so I have a little experience under my belt) I've been reading, and it says that aft eggs are more sensitive to humidty. What should the humdity be at?

And this is a good example why a male and female shouldn't be housed together unless with the intention of breeding. If you have two healthy geckos together in an even decent setup, they more than likely will breed. I hope they were of a healthy age and weight. You'll be getting more, so get things set up now and figure out what you're going to do with a bunch of babies.

I can't find anything about the specific humidity levels inside the containers, but here's some reading on AFT breeding:
Breeding an African Fat-Tailed Gecko | The Urban Boa
Professional Reptiles | Fat tail Gecko

Hopefully someone can tell you humidity level.

I don't really measure humidity in my egg containers, but as long as there is consistent moisture inside and the container is well sealed (and opened weekly briefly for air exchange). I think once I did measure and it was above 80%.

Thanks, guys. Both geckos are healthy weights. I am excited. Gotta make room in the rack for all my babies. AFT are still pretty rare here in Canada, so I'll have no problem finding homes for them. I was going to breed my pair of Tangerine Leos, next year, I never thought I get to try AFT first.
