Cresties are arboreal and need that vertical space. I've seen people use the 10-20 gallon tanks before and just set them on their end standing up. They even make converter kits to adjust the lids. The exoterra and zoo med 12 x12 x 18 terrariums are perfect for an adult crestie. They can be pricey but i found mine used on craigslist. I cleaned the heck out of it before using. :) Most crested gecko breeders convert sterilite tubs. See Underground Geckos on Facebook for a reference in her photos. She has gorgeous geckos too! Most of all, have fun with your new gecko and put him where you can enjoy him and he will watch you too. :)

Unfortunately this is one if the main reasons I have for wanting to open my own exotics shop. Whoever had your crestie before you most likely got him from a chain store like PetCo. He probably thought he was feeding him correctly because that's what they fed him at the store. I have seen the PetCo by me feeding cresties mealworms too and I have said "excuse me, but that isn't supposed to be their staple diet". You sound like you have done a great job getting your little guy back on the right track! He's lucky to have ended up with you guys. My guys usually won't touch the CGD until the 2nd day. In the wild they eat rotting fruit and such so I think the like it better after it sits for a day. Don't worry if you don't SEE him eating. As long as he poops, he's eating. Good luck with your little guy and keep us posted on how he's coming along.
