Ok so on another forum im a member of someone was wondering a reptile that could eat a diet of STRICTLY mealies and supers. I told em leos can. They wanted proof and one of the members said "Am i gonna get attacked by a mob of 8th grade leo breeders? What kinda proof you got?" So i just wanna show them that leos CAN be fed mealies/supers. I know like 95% of this forum feeds mealies/supers so could ya come and back me up :) Thanks lol

Well up until a month or so ago that is pretty much all I have fed mine, and they are all doing great. I have started to feed some of them roaches, but my colony isnt that big yet so most are still just on mealies.

Mine is on mealies only. Still too small for supers i think. When is a gecko big enough for supers? Crix are way too smely for me to be bred.

Why are you trying to prove yourself too a bunch of people on a forum.. ? Just Curious.

Ron Tremper I believe on his site (or somewhere else) states that he only feeds Mealworms. Would that be proof enough?

I personally have only feed Mealworms with just a few roaches. As long as the worms are gutloaded properly and supplemented they'll be just fine.

im trying to prove myself because they didnt believe me. they ASKED for proof, so i figured i might as well come to my favorite forum which is specifically for leos. If they didnt believe me after this well then idk

While I do agree that feeding a staple diet of properly gut loaded mealworms can be used to keep our geckos alive and healthy, I do not think it is the absolute best we can do for our geckos... A varied diet will almost always yeild healthier animals in the long run...

I have to agree with Gregg on this one.

I used to feed only mealworms (until I learned better), and have noticed great changes in geckos fed a varied diet of many different feeders.

There are advantages to other feeders that meal worms simply do not yield, such as the prey drive they bring out. I put meal worms in a bowl in their tubs, and throw a few roaches in there...the geckos rearrange their tubs going for the roaches, completely ignoring the existence of the worms in the bowl - even if they are eating them already once I throw the roaches in there.

Mine absolutely love mealies and supers. I do also feed crickets, but may change that due to the horrible smell those aweful beasts create. Lol

I may think about roaches in the future, because I think that variety is better, but for now mealies and supers it is. :)
