king?

I almost stepped on a small snake in the front yard today. It was red on black so I know it wasn't a coral snake. However, I'm not sure it was a king either. It was really small. I have seen a girl with one in a petshop and she brought it in to see what it was. They called it something else and said it was VERY hard to keep alive in captivity. I was just wondering what it was. I don't have a picture. I picked him up with a stick and put him in the bushes. I didn't want tehe cat to get him. :main_rolleyes:

Depending on where you are in FL, it may have been a scarlet.
They're such cute little buggers!

Yea, like K said sounds like it might of been a scarlet king .

yep, I think it was a scarlet king. The coloring on it looks more like the snake I saw then the coloring on the milk snake.

We live in Eastern Central Florida in Brevard County. I think this one was just a little baby.
