Kinky Tail

I'm just having the worst luck with this guy! D:

Okay. So this morning I got up and misted his humid hide and lifted up his regular hide to clean up after him like I do every morning. But in my half-asleep state I must've put the hide down on the poor guy's tail!

He spent the entire day locked inside his hide with it sitting on his tail! ;-; When I got hiome and lifted the thing off of him again to see if he had pooped he emerged with with a very noticeable kink in his tail. With the tip of it gone entirely pale, the color has sense drained back into it and it's looking better but he still has a bit of a pinch in it. He seems to have feeling in it and can move it around a bit but he does drag it a bit more than he did before.

I'm surprised he didn't drop his tail entirely, but is there anything I should watch for regarding this? Could he still lose his tail?

I'm such an idiot! ;__;

Wow! I'm surprised he didn't drop his tail (then again some geckos are stubborn about that apparently - they want to keep their fat at all costs :) )

I'd be afraid of possible gangrene if the circulation was really cut off. Keep a close eye on him and if it looks like the tail is getting infected *definitely* get to a vet ASAP so the infection doesn't have a chance to spread.

Other than that I can't think of any major risks - he'll probably be fine. The kink may or may not be permanent depending on a bunch of stuff like how heavy the hide is and how long he was there, but lots of leos have tail kinks and aren't bothered by them :)

Well, like I said, the color almost instantly returned to it once I had lifted the hide off of him, and he is able to move it some. It responds to my touch, so I'm hoping he'll just have a kink. It'll just give him more character. :p

Unfortunately there are no herp vets where I live. :( So I'm screwed if he gets sick. But I suppose a regular vet is better than no vet if he does get infected.

if the color is normal that means it still has blood flow. i'd just keep a close eye on him but it sounds like he'll be fine.
