Now where I am I have to put

LIVE HARMLESS REPTILE
KEEP WARM (IN WINTER)
KEEP COOL (IN SUMMER)
KEEP 70-90 (COVERS ALL SEASONS)
10 LEOPARD GECKOS
[SIZE=-1]Eublepharis Macularis

I canot use the perishable label with a little sticker that has the rest of the info, they require me to use a minimum of 1" letters with the above on all 4 sides of the box.

Also depending on what you are shipping, I believe that only Delta takes Venomous and they have very specific rules for that packing.

shipping is only part of the lacey act. there is much more to it. but yes you must have it clearly labeled the scientific name of the reptile you are shipping and only ship what the carriers approve. generally only frogs lizards and turtles. (from what i can remember)

this link can get you started on understanding the entire thing http://www.animallaw.info/topics/spuslaceyact.htm

Is this for NC, or just the basics in shipping company? I'm going to have to learn more myself on this coming soon.

Just thought I would get everyone in the know as failing to adhere to it can get you in some serious trouble. Let's keep the dialogue going so newbies [and some old-schools] won't be at risk of violation...

I don't know to be honest, most boxes I get in are the white boxes with Perishable on them in red with a small like 1"x3" sticker with live harmless reptile and the qty and species but when Fed X and UPS shipped mine they said I had to do it that or they would not take them so I do. Both saying it makes me think it may be NC things that go above and beyond the required printing on the box.

when shipping from any state to another you have to label it with the scientific name and number of animals. also live harmless reptiles. the temp thing is up to you even though most times i put it on there.
the reason i am assuming fedex and ups make you put it is so you it will legally labeled.

for those of you shipping geckos ect. (animals okayed for shipping). do not be afraid you are shipping geckos. you have to do it legally. do not skip steps or try and bypass the laws.

as far as i know delta is the only carrier that will ship venomous reptiles. they have to be packed a certain way. something like bagged in a nailed down wooden crate with the crate marked the scientific name and venomous animal some some other stuff and then inside i think an insulated box. i am not sure the exact thing but allot has got to be done. but this is how responsible hot keepers do it.

Yeah, I had it on a little sticker and they made me change it to 1" letters on all 4 sides instead of the perishable with the little sticker addition with the info, they said it made it clear as to what was in the box without looking for the info on a small area of the package.
