Latest holdback Gargoyle

Broke down and decided to keep this little one. Likely female (every SINGLE gecko I've held back ended up females.. Probably the temps in the low-mid 70's in my bedroom, where I incubate critters). Hatched on 4-20, which is funny in itself. Pics with & without flash. View attachment 2937 IMG_20170710_175600966.jpg

Nice! It's interesting that most gargs are female and most cresties are male. Some people swear that gargs can be temperature sexed and some feel strongly that it isn't true. I have someone who will be doing an article for Gecko Time in September about sex determination in geckos and hopefully addressing this question.

Will be an interesting read. I thought it (temperature sexing) was the same for all reptiles.

There seems to be much more variety depending on the gecko (and if you expand to all reptiles it gets even more interesting). The guy I found to do the article is a professor who studies this stuff and I'm so glad he responded to my email and agreed to do it.
