Hey all, I'm new to the forum and new to the reptile game but hooked already. I have been a fish keeper for years and have always been interested in reptiles but didn't purchase one until recently after a lot of research and nudging from my 8 year old daughter. I have kept and bred many different species of fish and the like such as cichlids (African and South American), shrimp, and loaches (my favorite). He (or she) is still a juvenile and my daughter decided to name him "Sparks" and I waited to buy one until I got him (or her) a 20 gallon long tank with some hides including a homemade humid hide and a pretty nice tile floor. I have 2 60w bulbs running day and night...one blue and one red and an UTH with temps right about 90 hot side/75 cool side during the day and 80 hot side/65 cool side at night. I have also been researching DIY yourself hides and backgrounds and will try that out pretty soon as well. This site has been such a big help that I decided to become a member. There is also a reptile expo coming to town in April that the wife and I will be visiting to dive deeper into the reptile world...lol. I will post some pics of the current setup as soon as I can but here's a pic of out little guy for now.

Welcome, and congrats on your new-found obsession. ;) If I may make a suggestion, I'd ditch the red and blue lights. These geckos have color vision that is 350x better than ours, so these colored lights are very disruptive to their day/night cycle, especially when kept on 24/7. If you need overhead heat, a ceramic heat emitter (produces no light) would be good for 24/7 or a regular basking light during the day (if the room is dark) and a ceramic heat emitter at night. Your gecko is a beauty though!

Thanks for the advice. I mostly use the red bulb for just a couple of hours at night and he runs out of his hide knowing that it's feeding time right when that light comes on so I figured he could see it despite tons of people saying leopard geckos are colorblind. I will pick up a che with a thermostat when I get into the DIY thing and add a second level. I'm adding a couple of pics of the tank. The second one is a top view shot of his warm side hide, his moist hide, and him strolling by in between both of them. Pics were taken with my phone so the quality isn't all that great.
