Least stressful way to take off dry shed off toes?

Not sure if this is the right section but so well.

Due to lack of heat in my house for the last week, I haven't handle Vastervik during that time out of his warm cage. After the heat finally came back, I handled him today. He must have shed during that time since I noticed six of his toes were covered in dry shed.

I tried taking them off with a wet Q-tip. After the fourth toe, Vastervik was actively trying to attack me and was so stressed thus I gave up for now. He's resting in his cage now and I'll try again later.

Anyone want to offer me a different tactic??

if it's just a little bit just raising the humidity will make it fall off by itself. If the humidity is too low than add an extra small water dish to get the humidity up to like 40-50. No higher. You can also spray a little bit of warm water on his toes and it will loosen and come off within a day or 2.

I usually do a lukewarm-to-warmish water soak for 15-20 minutes.
Then I get a wet q-tip and gently roll it against the stuck shed, from the edge where it starts to the periphery of the toes. It may take several times dipping the q-tip and repeating. Sometimes it will take several soak-and-q-tip sessions to get it all off, depending on the patience of your gecko. If you have to space it out over a day or two, I would not worry, but I personally would not let it go for over a week.

I had rango with stuck shed the other day, first he got a warm soak for 15 minutes(just enough to cover toes) and it fell of on its own, if not i was going to use a Qtip.
