My leopard gecko is not using its hides.. it is just clawing its way under the paper towels and hiding there all day and night and it cant find its way out.
The temp is 92-94 degrees Fahrenheit and i have 3 hides one on the warm and cool side and i also have a humid hide. Why does she do this and is there a way to make her stop without taping the paper towel down?:main_huh:

What kind of hides are you using? She may not feel safe if you are using half logs or something similar. They tend to like caves where they can get deep inside and be "safe" in. Ideal temps are 88-92, but i dont think thats the problem.

Also how long has he or she been in its home? If the environment has changed they may exhibit that type of behavior until they get used to things. Also I have some geckos ( a few) that do not hide they lay out and bask or just chill on the cooler side. Although the temps should be around 90 during the day, 2 of my girls stay on top of their hides or in the middle so I guess depending on their temprement they may prefer temps a little cooler around 80 b/c their hides are on the uth where its warmer.

i have had her for 2 years and she has a stumplike humid hide, a cave like hide on the cool side, and a Reptile Den Terrarium Tunnel System by Exo Terra. I measure it with a digital thermometer with a probe. She seems more active when the temp is above 94 but that is just too hot.

no. I think she hides there because she is near a window and the birds are in her field of view....then again all her hides hide her so she cant see it.. she might just prefer it there.

I think that as long as she is eating and pooing normally with no odd bahavior, healthy and everything else maybe she just likes to be a bit warmer.
