I have had my two leopard geckos for about 3 weeks now. The only problem is that one of them doesn't seem to be growing at all. Betty was a little fatter when we got them but not by too much. Since then she has grown and shed. Veronica still looks the same size and to my knowledge hasn't shed yet. I hand feed them and keep track of what they both eat. They eat pretty much about the same amount, sometimes Betty eats more and sometimes veronica eats more. So its not that one is eating all the food. As far as I can tell neither one is bullying the other. I have seen them both step on each other, and when it comes to food it seems to be whoever is closest to the food gets it. When I put a mealworm in the middle of them, they both go for it but no fighting. Betty does like the superworms more and does it more of them that Veronica so maybe that's it ?
Another thing I have noticed is that they don't just stay in their hides like I thought. I found a headlamp that has a redlight on it and when I go into my room if I use that then it doesn't seem to bother them and I can see them out of their hides. It seems like Veronica is more active. She also seems to like to climb. A few times I have seen her sitting up in the fake plants I have in the tank. Should I make something for them to climb on that more secure than the plants ?
When I take them out of the tank. Betty just seems to like to sit in your hand and move around a bit. But veronica likes to climb up my arm and sit on my shoulder then climb down my back onto my bed. She seems to be more curious. Last night when I was feeding them she actually just climbed onto my hand herself which was kind of cool, I guess she doesn't mind being handled that much.
They both poop regularly, and it looks the same. Could her not getting any bigger just be because she is more active ? Or is she just a slow grower ?
