Post all your leopard gecko stories avout a time when your geckos escaped or anything like that.

OK for mine....I was bringing my gecko back to her tank, and all of a suddenly she jumped out of my hands. Her tail started twitching after she hit the floor, but thank god she didnt loose it. Its not much, but I'm looking forward to hearing other stories :D.

When we still had Anput (alias Gizmo for those that may remember), she would escape two to three times a day!! I don't know how she even did it, but we would constantly find her outside of her tub. The way our tubs are set up, though, she couldn't really get anywhere else but outside of the tub/still inside of the drawer system. She is definitely a curious one!!

Our very first hatchling ever also escaped on the very same day that he hatched. He ended up crawling out of the bin (we had smaller bins at the time and didn't realize the little ones were even capable of doing so), fell at least four feet to the ground, then ran into an encounter with one of our most voracious of cats. She literally had her paws on him (without claws thank goodness) and he was just screaming his little heart out, but did not drop his tail. We found him just in time before he was cat food!! The reptile room is now off limits to all cats (live and learn! although that should have been common sense).

LOL

Ok I will post this again. :main_laugh: :main_laugh:

Man I'm still trying to catch my breath. Today I let my baby gecko out and she, or he was on the couch. I'm thinking cool. All of a sudden she or he jumps onto the floor and goes under the couch. My fingers can't reach back that far and I can't see anything. I move the couch all the way out. I don't see, so I move the other end of the couch out. This is a long huge couch. I grab Gecko with hands and she jumps and then runs over to where the cage is but I was able to get my gecko after about 5 times from jumping from my hands to the floor. My gecko is back in the cage but damn she moved quick. I think I will keep my gecko in a box next time I let him or her out of the cage. That was insane. She is fine hiding in her sweat box. Almost gave me a heart attack.

The first night we got Desmond he escaped.. to this day I have no idea how he got out of the tank he is an evil genius!

Anyway he was gone for ages, and we had all the floorboards up in the house at the time so he really could have been anywhere I was so upset! Anyway after a while we got a new gecko, rescued him from a horrible pet shop.. he's called Nessy... bought him home and put him in Desmonds tank. The day after, I walked upstairs and Desmond was sat on the top step staring at me! I couldnt believe it!! Anyway they are both boys and hate each other so we bought two new (very secure!!) vivariums. They are both obsessed with getting out now though, if they know someone is in the room they sit by the door and stare you out, its quite creepy!

I had one of my babies get out of his tub while I had the lid off. Iiurned around for three or four seconds t get his feeders from the bottom of the rack, and he was out and gone by the time I turned back around. I found him exploring the sheets on the bed (the tub was on the bed).

I was cleaning the cage, my son was holding her. She seemed happy sitting on his hand, watching my every move. All of a sudden she jumped down and landed on our dog's nose!! Right on my Lab/Wolf's tip of her nose. My dog froze, we froze, the gecko looked right in the dog's eyes. She climbed on the dog's head before I could get her. Now my Lab/Wolf is a hunter and thinks nothing of catching squirrels, birds, mice and rats. Ithink for a split second she thought - DINNER!!

Well, I've never had a Leo escape but my Desert King escaped. He was at my friends house because I was on vacation and I wanted him to still be fed while I was gone. He got out of his enclosure and was loose in my friends house for 5 days. I'm really lucky I still have him. :D
Sorry this isn't a Leo story but that's all I got, lol.

My leo has never "escaped" (thankfully!) but he flipped out when I tried to put him in his cage once.
I was holding him and then he started wiggling, I got a better grip--no big deal. Well then he tries to jump out of my hands (which was at least a 5 foot drop) and I'm like struggling to keep him from falling. He's wigglin' and tryin' to jump and his arms are like all splayed and stiff (cause he'll get his front half away from me and jump like that--LOL). I wrestled him into his cage and he plopped down thankfully unharmed!
