Awww poor 3 toe'd baby. Soooo glad you were able to get her back on track. Congrats! I think she should just stay with you after all y'all have been thru together
I would love to keep her, but I'm a college student living in a dorm room and I already have 3 geckos (which are not allowed anyways) and my boyfriends bearded dragon stays with me fairly often. I'm graduating so I really don't know where i'll be in the upcoming years and whether it'll be big enough for all those pets.
And, since I already have 3-4 other lizards to take care of I really don't want to cheat them out of time with me. Right now all my attention is on the sick gecko, and I don't get to spend as much time with the other geckos. and when the sick gecko gets better i don't want to cheat her out of time either.
as much as I am dying to keep her, It really would be better for the gecko if I found a loving and responsible pet owner to take her, so she could have all the love someone could give her.
Hey everyone,
Ive noticed a new symptom and have an additional question.
So the gecko has been passing stool every other day and eating normally. Unfortunately, the black on her stomach has not gone down. how long does it take for a lot of impaction to leave the body? and should there be noticeable differences??
this morning I also noticed a new problem. Her back left leg was shaking as if it was having a mini spasm. I put calcium on all her food although I don't know if the her previous owner did.
if anyone has any input, please let me know!
Translucent skin will show all kinds of odd looking areas so, if she's eating and pooping there's not anymore you can do for discolorations, and if there's an internal problem she would likely not survive long should it worsen. If she has a calcium deficiency, regular calcium supplements will not correct it as it's made for maintenance. I use calcium drops from our vet ($10) but Rephashy now has a powder to mix with water available that's designed for severe cases. It will be in my next supplement order! Keep an eye on her for any other symptoms, it would be a good idea to be prepared in case. Hopefully she will continue to improve but it takes a good while after such poor care to fully recover. Good luck!
