Leopard Gecko not coming out of humid hide for past few weeks

My daughter's leopard gecko has been hiding in his humid hide for the past 3/4 weeks. He is still eating - well, will grabbed food offered by tongs in the doorway of the hide, but won't come out to chase crickets or locusts, which he usually enjoys. Not pooing as regularly as usual (only 1 in the last week).

When I refresh the moss in his humid hide he moves around happily, but more shy than usual. Doesn't seem to be losing weight.

We have had him for nearly 14 months and he is usually very social and active in the evenings, so seems unusual. He is just over 2.5 yrs old.

I have checked the temperature (hot side 30-31C and cold side 24C). Humid hide is on the cold side of the tank.

I have found that many geckos keep to a favorite place for awhile and then change to another favorite place. It's fine, you'll just have to wait him out.

It's fine as this is not a strange behavior to geckos. However, you should keep close tabs to ensure nothing is wrong. If it retains its alertness with no signs of sickness whatsoever, then you shouldn't be worried.

Thank you for your replies. A bit of a rejig of his vivarium and he is now happily moving around between 4 of his now favourite hiding spots. I've attached a picture of him having a wee bask under his heat lamp.
