Leopard Gecko Rack Questions

I've been looking at a few DIY sources on the internet and I'm pretty sure I could handle making a rack to get myself started. I only have a couple questions from those of you who might have already done so.

I am not sure I have the skill/tool to recess the flexwatt tape into the shelf. If I use the PVCX type of material (or even wood) will the tape be okay making direct contact with the bottom of the tubs?

Also, what do you recommend shoebox or sweater box sizes for adults?

its very thin no need to recess it ..
and yes contact to tubs is fine

My heat tape makes direct contact to tubs and is not recessed. Its nice if you can recess it but not necessary.

Adults should be kept in nothing smaller than a sweater box. Hatchlings and juveniles are fine in shoe box size.

I'm looking at building my first rack as well - would a 16qt sterilite tub be considered a "sweater size"?

Yes 16 qt can house adults individually. I prefer 28qts though

Now I have a question I based my soon to be built rack on the adults being in "12qt" racks they didn't have 16qt at my local Walmart. The size is 16 1/2"L X 11 1/2"W X 6"H. Are these going to be big enough.

I built my own rack and got the measurements from some guy on another site, but its veryyy easy i just got a sheet of melamine wood forlike 30 bucks maybe? and i have a 7 shelf rack and can house 2 tubs prolly 28qt in each shelf, its very basic but it does its job, i got 2 long boards in the back, and 2 on each side then then the shelves.
