Well I havnt posted since the first week I got my gecko. Well i'd just like to say I really love him, seeing him grow gives me joy. I ran into a small problem, I was only using a heat lamp. I figured since it was the summer he'd do fine(I live in So Cali its hot!). As it started to approach winter I knew the lamp wouldnt be enough. I think he was starting to get sick. I was out with friends, when I got home I noticed he threw up. When I tried feeding him he barely ate. Luckily! soon after I was able to purchase a under tank heater. Hes now back to normal, eating like a beast. He is now 3 months and 3 weeks old. On a side note I went to petco today to get mealworms. Everytime I got I make sure to look at their leopard geckos. They always look sickly and small. My gecko is like 10x their size. Makes me sad :[

Here are a few photos.

This is his setup.

So does anyone know the morph? I really want to know.

I have a few questions too. Sometimes when im near his cage. He'll come out of hiding and just stare at me for minutes at a time. Does this mean anything? does he like me or something? lol

Also does he look at bit large for his age? I cant help but feel hes bigger than usual, unless it was the diet I feed him. He's already about 6 to 7 inches long, maybe even longer.

I also have a video on youtube of him eating. This is when he was younger. Probably a month old.

Need some better pictures to tell what he really is but he looks like a very nice normal or high yellow to me:D

That just means he likes you! :main_yes:

He is just the right size for his age. Typically babies eat as much as they want so unless you feed them hardly at all they grow fast.
He is a very nice looking gecko and has an AMAZING carrot tail coming in!

He appears to be a very pretty Normal. :main_thumbsup: Hypos have no spots (or, some people define it as 10 or fewer spots), so he doesn't classify as Hypo. He is banded. A carrot tail has no spots in the orange and at least 25% of it, so he's not a carrot tail, either, but he has nice orange in his tail :main_yes:

He has the perfect size. This is what a healthy gecko of this age should look like. If you see sickly thin gecks, don't buy them... Geckos don't "like" humans, but he can instinctively associate you with feeding time, so he'll be staring you down until you give him a worm :D

Your setup looks very professional! :main_thumbsup:

He's settled down a lot more too. He used to run from my hand like i'm a monster. But I started petting his back during feeding. He barely moves now, although he still turns his head around to lick my hand or nibble it a bit. Probably thinking "hey what are you doing!"

What are the chances in itself, that a normal would look this pretty? Yeah the orange is really cool, reminds me of halloween :] Its getting nice and fat too. You cant really see in the photos but his eye lids are greenish. Most geckos have blue eyelids right?

Good, looks like i'm doing a good job then :main_cool3: I wasnt planning on a new gecko anytime soon. I just look at petcos geckos because everyone on this forum talks about petcos bad care so I wanted to see for myself. Unfortunately its true and its depressing :/. I figured it could of been that too, because once I pull off the lid from the cage he comes right out of hiding. The lid makes noise.

Thanks! My gecko probably really likes it, compared to his house at the pet store. He was living in one of those 5 gallon plastic reptile containers, with 1 bowl in the middle no hides lol. I can't help but feel like I rescued the little guy :D. I'll be moving him to a 20 gallon as soon as possible. Could I use a fish aquarium? I read on the UTH only use reptile ones. But fish tanks are alot cheaper than reptile ones and they look EXACTLY the same. Seems like a scam to me... compare 100$ to 40$. something fishy to me!

The PetCo in my town takes awesome care of their geckos. They had one shipped to them that had dropped its tail, and they took him to the back for three months and handfed him til his tail had grown fully back. It made me happy that they did that. :)

Now, to get back on topic, your gecko is a lovely normal. Personally, I think normals are very pretty - I love all their spotting and the yellows and lavenders that they can get. Just because its called "normal" doesn't mean plain. It just means typically awesome.

Of course you can use fish tanks!! I have 12x4 ten gallon glass tanks. If you have a PALS card, you can get them for 12 bucks each at Petco. That's what Petco is really good for, if not so much their geckos ;) :main_thumbsup:

Oh sweet. Getting him a new home when he gets older wont be too bad then. Yeah the pet pals cards are really nice. I got the plastic plants and rock hide at discount price. :main_cool3: There's also a 20 gal on sale for $30 original price is $40. Shame I don't have money. :main_thumbsdown:

That was really nice :]. The geckos here just look really skinny, boney looking tails. But i'm sure not all petco/petsmarts are like this.

Yeah I appreciate him to the fullest. I wouldn't trade him for any gecko. There are some cool looking morphs out there though, but I like my little guy.
