Well, I don't know if they really looked and noticed it was October. Maybe it's the light or the temperature, but suddenly as of last night most of my adults aren't very hungry. We go through this every year. Four of my 11 adults have passed 99 grams so they're well prepared. I guess I'll start selling mealworms again . . .

This is my first year with my Leo's.
Do they really go through that signifigant of a drop in appetite? :main_huh:
How much of a decrease should I expect?

I think it depends on the gecko. I've had the whole range from geckos that eat like pigs all year to those who hardly eat from Oct. to Jan. and lose about 20 grams. The important thing is to try not to worry too much if everything else looks OK.

It does depend on the gecko a lot, some will "cool" themselves even if you don't. Ive never had any lose any significant weight though maybe at the most 10 grams, if they are not doing anything they do not burn off anything.

Just make sure they have ample water supplies, they drink water even when they are not eating from winter off season and lack of water can cause weight loss and lots of it.

Okay thanks, I'll keep an eye on them. For now they're still eating like pigs :main_yes: Lol

Mine get fed (every 3 days) and watered regularly even if they're not eating too much. I agree that 20 grams is a pretty big weight loss, but the ones who lose that much are the ones who get themselves up over 100 grams by the end of the summer. The lighter ones don't lose a significant amount of weight.
