Light dimmer?

First off sorry about posting new thread about somthing im sure many people have asked, i tried surching it but nothing was quite answering my question. Okay,now to my question. So i am going to upgrade my leo to a 20L, and am taking my time planing it so its perfect and my idea is to make it multy level so it has kinda a rock-shelf like cliff as a second level, and on the hot side my idea was to put a ceramic heat emitter hanging up towards the top, half hanging over the ledge, half hanging off the ledge so if he wants to be highup out in the open getting back heat he can go up on the ledge, but put a rock on the floor level so if he still wants that back basking heat but not quite as mutch he can. Then i was going to put two hides(one dry and one moist) under the ledge, over a UTH, so if he wants belly heat and privicy and moister he can have it and . So my question was what is would i be able to use a light dimmer for the ceramic heat emitter to control the heat put out? and how do i setup a light dimmer? really just any advise you have on light dimmers would be lovely

Get a "lamp dimmer" from a home goods store like Home Depot. Plug the dimmer into the wall and plug the ceramic heat emitter into the other end of the dimmer. If you have the slider on the dimmer all the way up, the heat emitter will be putting out 100% of its heat and it will be just as if the emitter were plugged into an outlet. If you turn the slider all the way down, the emitter is off. If you have the slider midway, the emitter will put out 50% of its power . . . you get the idea. You will have to move the slider manually when you want to change the amount of heat; it won't work automatically. You'll have to play around with it some to figure out where to set the slider for the best temperature. I hope that answered your question.
