Lighting: wattage and colour

to my best understanding, this is the best set up; basking lamp (red, reflector type) attached to a thermostat. As well as a heat mat undre the cage. Is this correct? and wat wattage should the bulb be, if i even need it at all.


Im getting confused with the amount of information ive read in the last couple of days. If you guys could clear some stuff up id be really grateful. thankyou!

I've read your questions on some of the other threads and it sounds like you're doing as much as you can to provide the right environment for your new gecko. I re-read Marcia's care sheet and feel that it answers most of your questions (http://www.goldengategeckos.com/careleopard.html). The only thing I'd add is that mealworms are only kept in the fridge in order to keep them from turning into beetles too fast. If you buy them small enough (so it takes them time to grow up and turn into beetles) or in small enough quantities you don't need to keep them in the fridge. If you read her care sheet with all your questions in mind, I think they'll be answered. If you still have questions, feel free to ask again. It may be best, though, to put all the questions in one thread.
