My new gecko is housed in my basement where it is very dark with zero light at night. My question is should I provide a small dim nightlight to give them a little light to simulate perhaps moon light?

Can they see in total darkness ?

Yeah, I used to have mine in a basement too.

Some will say "leo's dont like light, period"!! but I dissagree.
They need to know the diference between day and night.
All you need to do is put a light on w/ a timer.
You dont need a UVB, just something like a halogen lamp or something
that looks like daylight.
You also dont need to put it like ON your terrarium, just someplace where they can see the light.
Yes, leo's can see in total darkness :)

You do not need a night light at all, but you can have a little 15W red or blue
light just so you can see them. You can get a reptile nightlight from any pet store.
