If it has glue on it, it isn't safe. If heating it causes it to smell, it isn't safe. You may want to consider ceramic tile which is safe and looks great.

No glue, but I haven't tried heating it. How much on average should tiles cost, because all i've looked at have been really really expensive, can you give any links online to places that sell the correct ones cheap in the uk?

Got some ceramic tiles today. I was wondering is it best to use a pulse thermostat or a heat mat on off thermostat? And at what temperature should I set the heat mat to in order to get the right temp coming through the tiles.

Pulse offers finer control, but they are more expensive. On/off thermostats work fine for heat pads, there will just be slightly more variation as they turn on and off.

As for the set temp, you'll have to experiment on your own. Ideal temp for the floor surface is 32-34 C, so I'd probably start by setting it around there and then turning it up as necessary after it's run for a day. You'll need a temp gun or temperature probe to confirm the surface temp.

Hi I'm new to this all, but was just wondering if I buy a exo terra background made out of polystyrene, will any of the crickets or locasts that I feed her bite throw it? Or just any general comments about this product?
