I'm kinda surprised at the pure ignorance and rude behaviors of some of the people commenting.

The python comments by Faleomavaega really irritated me... Comparing a "python" (with no specification to which kind) to lions and tigers is just insane.

Also... A surrender program? Are they absolutely joking?! I would never, ever, ever surrender any of my pets to be put down. EVER.

Yea, that comment pissed me off too. Tigers and chimps? What does that have to do with all our concerns about our reptiles & other pets? Though they said they received alot of letters, emails, calls, etc. they bared talked about what would happen to all of the pets. They basically said what we knew, that we could keep what we have.

Another thing that irritated me... I think it was Mrs. Capps who did the whole "let's put this on the record so pet owners stop freaking out so much" and asked the yes or no questions... The whole thing about grandfathered pets being allowed to travel with their owners out of state. Why was there no firm answer? Also, the man answering was so vague and rude about it. You'll look into it, possibly? How is that supposed to make any pet owner feel safe and secure? A permit system? Registration?

How can you accomplish all of these things in three years?

I feel so tense and angry....

Thank God for PIJAC though. I appreciate our voices being represented!

So basically this stupid thing got passed or approved? I hate that I missed the hearing! I wish they would try to take my pets:main_angry: there would be a one woman riot on my street!!

I don't know if its passed or not, I just know it barely answered any of our questions. :main_angry: Anything concerning our pets seemed to just be avoided.

From what I am hearing elsewhere...they are reviewing the bill again in 10 days, which would be May 3rd...

Apparently we need to get back to flooding them with phone calls & emails...and we need to stress the fact that although we are pet owners we have concerns as private breeders, since there was no mention of this in the hearing.

;)

[sarcasm]

Oh, did no one get it? It's not to take away our rights as pet owners! No, no... It's to help our wildlife and economy! Think of our poor economy. Getting killed off by all these horrible non-native animals! Those hamsters, gerbils, parakeets, and tropical fish surely aren't doing any good for our country. Not to mention those pesky reptiles! Not like anyone depends on them at all...

It's not like we make billions of dollars via the pet industry. It's not like one third of our families have non-native pets... [end sarcasm]

Oh wait... WE DO!

thanks for the response. Well that sucks, so we still don't know what's banned and what isn't. Some sort of confirmation is better than not knowing. But then, a group of people that compares pythons to chimps and tigers wouldn't know anything anyway. It sounds like the committee is just as confused about their role as we are. :main_no: and then I read the comment on here about taking your pets across state lines? So now they're going to start searching peoples cars for pets? This is ridiculous.

If we have to then consider it done. Like the one guy (I think it was him & I don't remember the name, the guy from Samoa) said, they got alot of letters and phone calls.... Well guess what? You'll get even more if needed.

Where can I get flyers to protest this foolishness? I'm on sick leave from work so I can hit several major pet stores to pass out flyers raise awareness and of course rally people to make calls and send letters. and by a few more pets while I'm at it. Why are they taking another 10 days? This thing will sound as stupid 10 days from now as it does today. They need to be stopped!!:main_evilgrin:
