Lost and Found Tortoise!

Omg, I've just had one of THE most stressful days. First off, I'm sick and I have finals this week...not a good combination :(. Then I find out my dad left my darling little Olivia, my sulcata tortoise, outside yesterday and didn't tell anyone. That gives her 24hrs to go ANYWHERE. Needless to say it was the tip of the iceberg and I was REALLY upset. My dad begins looking for her, I get my sister to look, I call my mom to hurry home from work as I struggle out of bed in tears to go outside and walk up and down the road hoping she's out eating clover or something. Tortoises don't come when they're called, which makes it especially difficult when one is lost, lol.

After looking around my whole yard and talking to the neighbors I come back in and commence to making a "LOST" flyer. I mean, in reality I don't think anyone would think a little tortoise in their yard is out of the ordinary. Alot of people don't even know the difference between a turtle and a tort and we have alot of ponds around here...

Just as I was finishing up the flyer that had every number to every cell phone we own plus the home phone my dad announces he found her UNDER THE HOUSE. I was so happy and now I'm just glad to have my tortoise back in my room! She looks a bit dirty (needs a good soaking) but other than seems unphased. To her it was most likely a big long nap :) .

Moral of the story- Don't let your dad take your tortoise for a walk :D

She's gorgeous! Mine just passed away and I was so bummed. It was the tiniest leopard tortoise I've ever seen. I'm not sure why it never grew some sort of genetic defect I'm sure but this was a few months ago at 3.5 years old -

Oh sorry to hear that, she was a cutie! I've really been wanting some Leopard Tortoises but I don't want to wait for them to grow and they tend to be quite expensive when they're older. They are gorgeous though....

Olivia is about 4 years old and weighs about 15lbs. She's got alot of growing to do but I'm fine with her doing it slowly. LOL.

I kept waiting ever so patiently to grow. lol We're still debating about whether or not we're going to get another one. I wanted to get a miniature pony to fill the void but Keith said no.

Haha, aw...I've always wanted a goat so I think if we had not found Olivia I should have been automatically offered a goat, seems fair right?

I love sulcattas, I want to get one eventually. I'm glad you found her without a hitch. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your leo tort. I saw some pretty wicked snow leo torts at a hamburg show earlier this year.

Katie-I am so very glad that you found your tort
She is absolutely adorable !!
Tell Dad to leave her be if he can't remember to bring her back inside-lol

Sorry to read about your tort passing Mel/Keith
That is the tiniest one that I have ever seen
As for the goat-I am in love with the pygmies and although I live in town and can't keep one-I would get one in a heartbeat if I could

My bf thinks that I am nuts-lol-maybe he's right??

Oh-and I love the miniature horses too
We have a miniature horse farm right on the edge of town and I keep meaning to go and ask them if I can take some pics of their horses
If I am able to-I will post pics
