Over the weekend of Set. 8-9 I when was vending at the NARBC Anaheim Show, I lost one of my little RAPTOR females. He tub was empty when I was putting away the unsold geckos. At first, I thought she had been stolen at the show since there were other thefts there (remember Geckos, Etc.'s Enigma? I just couldn't figure out what could have happened to her.

Two weeks ago when I was getting ready to leave at the crack of dawn for the Sacramento Show, I came down the hall and my Mini Schnauzer, Star, was playing with something on the floor. As I approached, she cowered down like she was in trouble, and I saw it... an albino gecko's tail. I freaked out, and almost couldn't go to the show I was so upset.

After six weeks, I had pretty much given up hope to find her... sure that Star had probably eaten her.

Well, about an hour ago, I was cleaning tubs when the phone rang. When I returned to the gecko room I realized I had left a tub on the table... and the little striped Bell inside was gone! My husband and I tore up the entire gecko room looking for her, with me crying the whole time. How stupid could I be???

As a last resort, we pulled out all the hatchling racks from the wall and looked behind them with a flashlight. We found plenty of dead bugs and quite a few spider egg sacks. My husband is scared to death of spiders, so I was removing the egg sacks with a paper towel when I saw something small and pink move. It was my little lost tail-less RAPTOR! And then, right behind her, was the little Bell!!!

I think I will sleep well tonight.

Who would have thought that you'd find both at the same time, huh? Congrats! I bet you're relieved. Glad to hear it all worked out to your favor! :main_yes:

That's great news. Last spring we found my big male tremper in the downstairs neighbor's linen drawer after 2 weeks.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that gets distracted while cleaning tubs! I hate that feeling when I realize I left an open tub out with a gecko in it. I'm glad you found both of your lost and found in one search!

Strangely enough, the little RAPTOR female was not very thin after her 6 week adventure. Hopefully, it was from eating all the spiders behind the racks, lol!

I will NEVER do that again!

You know, in the 12+ years I have been working with geckos, I have 'lost' several but have always managed to find them almost immediately. This little RAPTOR has escaped twice! Once, I thought my male C. variegatus was missing while Johannes was here from Germany. While we were looking for him, Johannes was pointing a flashlight behind one of the other racks and asked, "Ummm... are you missing a RAPTOR?" She was just sitting there. I didn't even know she was gone!

I think her name should be "Houdini".
