I did a check on my eggs today and they were totally flat. I am not sure what I did wrong:( . My hovabator wasn't here yet but my temps were staying between 82.8 and 83.4. My humidity levels were at 85-90%. I have one of the thermomiters that showed me my daily highs and daily lows so I could record fluctuations in the box. Our hovibator is scheduled to be here Friday so I am hoping that when the next clutch comes, I will have better luck. I know that loosing eggs and hatchlings is all a part of breeding but these were our surprise christmas babies and I had hoped they would make it:main_no: .

moistened vermiculite. I followed the directions from one of the posts on the forum. This particular female was a rescue and she was bred before we got her. She was only about 29 grams ( WAY to small for breeding) when we got her. She was 56 grams the day before she laid those 2 eggs and she was 54 grams 2 days after laying. I have been keeping food in her tank 24/7. I thought maybe her being extremely small caused the eggs to be infertile.

Hard to say, but it sounds like you did everything right. Good luck with the next clutch, and sorry these ones were lost. That always sucks. :(

I have heard if the female doesnt get the right supplumentation (sp) then that will make them have infertal eggs too. But thats hearsay so I dunno. Sorry that happened. Hope you best of luck next go round.

I'm sorry to hear your Christmas eggs failed! When they were laid, were they firm and leathery (fertile), or thin and limp (infertile)? It is true that calcium deficiencies will cause even fertile eggs to not form a thick shell and cause them to fail.

Good luck with the next clutch!

Marcia nailed that one! But if the eggs were originally infertile there's not much you can do Sorry about the eggs :(

They never seemed to firm up.She has been getting daily phos/free calcium on her mealies ( I also keep a dish of it in the tank) since she got to our house but I am not sure what she was getting before. She only weighed in at 28 grams the day that we got her. She went to the vet 3 days later and was checked for parasites and she came back clean. Will her next clutch also be infertile or is there a chance they will make it. My hovabator is scheduled to arrive today. I checked an hour ago and it was on the truck about 35 minutes from my house!!!! I had prepared myself to fail with this bunch of eggs due to her poor state of health when we got her but I had hoped that maybe they would make it. I am just upset at the previous owner. He called himself a "breeder" and all he was was irresponcible all the way around!!
