hey there suncharmer, i was checking out your website and i must say i am very impressed with your animals and your documentation.
i am thinking i will probably catch myself a collared lizard here in az this summer. i have a 4.5 feet long x 2 feet wide x 2.5 feet high aquarium. you think the little dude will be able to get up to speed on his back legs in there?
also, how would you feel about a staple diet of dubia?
Hey thank you for your kindness Oh you should be able to get a beauty in Arizona, I have seen some that make me goo - goo - eyed. That tank would be really fun for them, I have yet to see them run bi-pedally in any tank, I have seen them in my rep room on the floor go from one end of the room to the other and it is so darn awesome to see. They ZOOM, but most of mine have been pets for so long that they kind of just mosey around, I can put my hand down on the floor and they will just jump on.
Thanks again for the BIG- HEAD, heheheh we all need it sometimes, :main_thumbsup: here is a handsome dude from Northern Arizona named Tatanka
OOPS - forgot to talk about the staple of dubia. I also have dubia, but have seen that youngsters(collareds) do not really go after the nymphs(tiny ones) the baby roaches play dead when approached and don't move which makes the young collareds just walk away. They love the chase/hunt of the crickets. So I do use thousands of crickets.
The older collareds will eat small to medium roaches, some will grab the adult male roaches, but the BIG female roaches are too big. And some of my collareds can't be bothered with them at all . So I have yet to be able to use the Dubias as a staple, just as an occasional treat for some. :0( I do use thousands of superworms , a long with crickets.
I bet they would love those lobster roaches they are quick and look more like crickets, BUT... my husband would put me out first before he would allow me to bring them in the house , since they can escape and multiply. Have a good one!
:main_laugh: Thank you buddy ! Yeah, I think we all have the BUG, always wanting to get involved with yet another awesome reptile. Around here the "INN is full", hhehheheee , expecting a BABY BOOM shortly.
Take care
