You can't really compare US prices to elsewhere. Even here in Canada my UTH was $40, and everything in general is more expensive. In Europe prices are often even higher. If you can find a used aquarium in the classifieds that would be perfect, even one that leaks (which you might be able to get very cheaply). I do worry though, if money is really that tight, what do you intend to do if your leo gets sick and you have to take him/her to a vet? I understand wanting to get things as cheaply as possible, but do make sure that you are financially capable of taking care of your pet if something should happen.
