Luck on Craigslist??

I am going to be breeding for my first season this year and just was wondering if many people have luck selling their geckos on craigslist? Maybe not those with a lot more high end geckos, but for more reasonably priced ones. Im not really doing this as a source of income, more of a hobby. If I don't have any luck selling them I will probably end up keeping the babies, I have room and money to care for and feed all the hungry little mouths, or will give them away to my friends.
If craigslist is not successful, I was wondering where the majority of your sales come from, from smaller scaled breeder. Thanks for the help.

Here's the issue for me: technically your're not allowed to sell live animals on craigslist. Most people get around it by "adopting" their animals out for a "rehoming fee". Personally I'm not comfortable with that fiction. When I advertise on craigslist, I advertise my set-ups that I sell and then at the bottom I put "ask me about my geckos". I also do a search for "gecko" and "reptile" on my local and other slightly less local craigslists in the "general" and "pets" sections. When I do this I'm looking for people who are interested in a gecko or other reptile. I've probably had more selling success doing the craigslist search than from people who respond to my set-up ad.

I wrote an article for Gecko Time awhile ago about how to sell your geckos. You can find it here: http://www.geckotime.com/how-to-sell-your-geckos/

Id just like to add one more thing about craigslist...ive bought/taken in a few rescues off there...and they've almost all told me they had bought the geckos off someone on craigslist before or from a breeder who seen there wanted add...The 2 rescues that really broke my heart were tossed from person to person....Literally! ones jaw and front legs were broke...If youre new to craigslist...read around...people buy and re-sell the animals on there. Ive seen a dog in my area go from its orignal home to another one where he bit a kid coz he was scared, get SOLD for 200 to a new home then end up in a shelter which put him down a week later for "aggression" its a sad story people on my craiglist(MN) still mention when they see re-sales. What im saying is...You dont know what will happen once there outta your hands. becareful.

Aliza- great article:D

Yea that is very true, did not take that into consideration...I would make sure they were able to fully take care of a leo before I let them purchase it...as i said im not really in it for the money so if someone doesnt seem fit to take care of it, I would just keep it myself.

Its the down side of breeding:/ Parents think(now with the geckos on pets 101) that there kids at 6 can get a gecko and itll be easy...ive had 3 parents contacted me in my area wanting geckos for there 6-9 yr olds...needless to say i said no. People can say what ever they need to, to get what they want. Its going and see if the words are true. I personally have a dislike craigslist for that reason but i cant complain competely. I did managed to save 5 geckos, rehome 3, and take in a puppy from a rescue. It can work. I wish ya luck! right now theres a kid on mine looking for leos and balls saying he NEEDS them for his breeding projects...Lol he got flagged quickly by people. A great way to get word out that you do have babies is to go to your local "ma and pa" pet store and see if they'll hang a flyer or something.
