If I handle a female and then put my arm in a mature males tank with the scent of HER on me.. is it possible he may bite my hand????
I did just that tonight and when I put my hand in Charlies cage he went crazy.. trying to get close and smell me.. I got scared and took my arm out b/c I didnt want him to catch her scent

I don't know anything about breeding, but what you said made me think, "What if she put her hand in the cage and the male thought it was a female and tried to breed her?" IDK why, but that was the first thingthat popped in my mind. I know, I'm strange lol.

It sounds like he did think your hand was a female so to speak. I guess the two ways I can think of to avoid that is to either clean Charlie’s cage first, or wash your hands if you cleaned the female’s cage, before you go visit Charlie. That way he doesn’t get he sent.

Thanks for the replies.. He watched me hold her with his wide eyes for about 10 min. then I went in his tank.. he was frantic and fast (he is usually sooo calm) so it freaked me out a little... :anxious: he is a big boy I wouldnt want my first bite to be from him (although it wouldnt be too rough if he thought he was mating right??)
